Abstract:

The Economics of any country, including that of India, rests on three major pillars – Industries, Agriculture and Services. Electricity is the backbone for all these three pillars. By the year 2050, India plans to transmit power even to the remotest parts of the country and for India to be recognized as a fully developed country it will have to produce electricity to the tune of a total of 5000 unit per person per year out of which 2000 unit rate will have to be through atomic energy and 3000 unit rate will have to be through other sources of production. Various Survey Agencies of India, DAE, Electricity Board, the entire Nuclear family of India, NPCIL and all the other concerned departments are not only experts in the production of electric power through nuclear energy, managing such activities, administration and protection and upkeep of the entire process, but also are miles ahead of the rest of the world in certain aspects concerning such power projects. People of India have a preconceived negative notion about producing electricity using atomic energy right from the early days and the so-called social organizations, so-called well-wishers, representatives of people, local parties, etc. take people into their confidence and in order to meet their own selfish ends encourage or goad people to indulge in no-holds-barred fights to stall such development projects.
