Road obstacles as moving object are source of serious accidents that have effect on driver safety, traffic flow efficiency and damage of the vehicle. Moving object detection and classification method on road are selected on behalf of vehicle tracking, counts, average speed of individual vehicle, traffic analysis and vehicle categorizing. The object detection and classification technologies are increasingly popular choices for advanced driver assistant system for moving object detection and also for traffic monitoring system. The importance measure of interest was to decrease the road accidents and driver‘s safety. Determining moving object is very difficult also it becomes complicated because of moving background under homogenous and heterogeneous traffic conditions. This review was carried out in order to use of image processing and data mining techniques to detect, classify, and object in a traffic video. The paper also discusses challenges faced by researchers for developing such systems is also presented.
