Abstract: 

E-learning is a virtual process of obtaining data, information and knowledge by using electronic technologies and communications like. Whereas the primarily goal of knowledge management is to identify and control the collected data to achieve set targets of competition and survival. It is today’s educational requirement to integrate e-learning capabilities with advantages of knowledge management. Due to growing competition in the globalizing academic environment, education system is trying to find methods of sharing experiences and ideas of academic staff. With majority of Indian population in rural areas, where formal education has faced negligence, E-learning has act as a boon to education system in India. E-learning technologies being highly potential technologies should reach the rural areas of India. The purpose of this paper is to concentrate on the Indian education situation, Problems Faced in Rural Education in India, challenges of the ICT for education, eLearning content creation and presentation tools, merits and demerits of eLearning, future scope of eLearning in India and how knowledge management supports E-learning to achieve this goal. Through this paper we will also study the limitations of rural education strategies and give stress on development of rural education level on the basis of ICT.
