Abstract:

The wired networks consist of dedicated routers to regulate network traffic, whereas in adhoc wireless networks, nodes not only act as just regular terminals but also as routers. They operate without any fixed infrastructure, and providing security in such a scenario, is a challenging task. Due to node mobility, there are frequent path breaks, which must be handled in a way, such that it does not compromise with security. Moreover the dynamism of nodes, limited available resources and no predefined boundary make the secure communication more difficult. This paper presents an overview of the existing routing protocols, along with the many issues in routing especially the security issues of MANET, and what are the challenges in the formation of secure routing protocols.
