Abstract:

Wastewater from textile processing plants can be highly colored and difficult to degrade. In the present study the degradation of acid orange 7 dye in aqueous solution was investigated using ultrasound and combination of ultrasound with H2O2 at different sonication power (250 W, 500 W and 750 W), different initial concentration of acid orange 7 dye (20 ppm, 30 ppm and 40 ppm), different pH (2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10) and different concentration level of H 2O2 (65 mg/L, 130 mg/L, 195 mg/L, 260 mg/L and 391 mg/L). The kinetic study indicated that the degradation rate of acid orange 7 dye fitted to first order kinetics for all process studied. The result show that the degradation of acid orange 7 dyes was significantly enhanced using combination of ultrasonic cavitation with H2O2.
