In recent years, the use of laminated composite plates as structural members has increased considerably. This arises from the fact that by taking advantages of their light weight, high strength and other material properties, several of which may be tailored through variation of the fiber orientation and stacking sequence, laminated plates can be used efficiently as components in aerospace, naval and civil structures. Free vibration analysis of symmetric and anti-symmetric laminated composite annular sector plates is achieved in this study using finite element software ANSYS 12. The effect of different boundary conditions, number of layers, sector angle, annularity) and moduli ratio are studied. Numerical examples are presented to validate the approach and the superiority of this method is also demonstrated. It is shown that for both symmetric and anti-symmetric arrangement, the geometric parameters does more influence and change in behavior compared to change in layered properties.
