Abstract:

Micro hydropower system is one of the most effective renewable sources of energy for sustainable development due to its environmental friendly nature and extensive potential available throughout the world. The challenges in such type of energy production are the high cost of the installed capacity which is expensive for low head micro hydropower system. Economical consideration is the main problem in Hydro power generators for such type of energy production. Several hydro power schemes have been proposed and implemented which includes radial, axial, propeller type turbines. Owing to the simple structure and ease of manufacturing cross flow turbines are more popular in low head and high water flow rate. The major design consideration in them were to minimizing the undesirable uncrossed flow in order to achieve maximum efficiency by improving the turbine parameter are proposed for wide range of head and power ratings.
