Abstract:

Due to limiting sources and rising values of fuels efforts must be done to use fuels to their maximum designed efficiency value. This paper deals with experimental analysis of thermal efficiency of a domestic LPG cooking stove. Burner is made up of brass, premixed type. The bigger burner is selected for experimental analysis. Efficiency of a burner is obtained by water boiling test, by following the guidelines given by BIS. As per Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS: 4246:2002), maximum thermal efficiency of a burner is between 65-68%. A burner is tested as per standards. Thermal efficiency of a domestic burner observed 53.61%, which is less than the standard value. Atmospheric temperature affects the performance of burner. Preheating of burner also helps in improving efficiency.
