Even though computing has advanced over the past, the networking principles have remained mostly unchanged. With the number of computers connected to Internet booming, Distributed Denial of Service attacks are also increasing. A DDoS attack remains one of the most common and devastating security threats to the Internet world. [1] It consumes the computing resources of a computer or a server and hence degrades the performance. In this article we will discuss about ICMP protocol, DoS and DDoS attacks related to that protocol.
