Abstract:

VANETs are important due to their vast possible and a number of applications. It is one of the equipment is used to make our lives and roads safer. The proposed IDS are capable of detecting a false information attack using novel approach and can also detect other types of attacks. In VANETs vehicles exchange information with each other with the help of beacon messages to inform about their location and speed to give them a traffic condition around them. It also sends emergency messages to inform about accidents, fog or other hazards. The fast moving nodes to be act quickly based on these emergency messages given by beacon messages. However, a rogue node which sends fake emergency messages can cause disaster in the network may even cause in losses. Moreover, rogue nodes are introduced in the network and an algorithm is presented to detect these rogue nodes. Finally, IDS is deployed to detect attacks and help secure VANETs. The future IDS will detect different types of attacks launch by rogue or compromised nodes in the network. The IDS will then be able to reduce the damage to the network by taking necessary actions.
