Abstract:

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is the malady of eye that may lead to blindness if not detected and treated early. The role of image processing techniques in automatic detection of DR is central. These techniques exceedingly rely on mathematical morphology which has innate convenience for image processing. In addition to this, the system is made more robust by integrating these techniques with unconventional classification methods that increase the reliability and trust over the electronic DR detection system. This paper reviews three different systems that show various approaches in order to classify if the patient is a possible sufferer of Diabetic Retinopathy or not and evaluates the system in terms of accuracy achieved and the techniques used.
