Today most important topic in information security is user authentication. Password authentication is most widely used authentication mechanism. Users generally used text based password but it suffered from security and usability issues. If the length of password is small then it is easy for attacker to crack and if it is large then hard to remember. To overcome these problems recognition based graphical passwords are proposed. One of the major reasons behind to choose recognition based graphical password is according to psychological studies human mind can easily remember images better than alphabets or digits and more secure than text based passwords. In recognition based method user has to select images from given image set by server and in login time user has to remember or recognize that images for authentication. In this paper, we analyzed different types of existing recognition based graphical password authentication systems. We are also discussing security and usability issues for recognition based password.
